Peter Anthony Martin Jr. has been well-established as a professional saxophonist and teacher. He received his Masters of Music in Saxophone Performance degree at the University of Southern California and his Bachelor of Music in Performance degree, graduating Cum Laude at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in California State University Long Beach (CSULB). From that school, he was the recipient of the Bob Cole and Theodore Presser Scholarships. He was also awarded the "Outstanding Woodwind Performance" award and was the fourth saxophonist in CSULB history to receive that award. 

 

At age 15, he won his first solo competition, the prestigious “Claremont Winds Young Artist Scholarship Competition” which was open to high school and college students ages 15-21 from the Greater Los Angeles Area. Also at age 15, he had his solo debut at the First International Band and Orchestra Festival at the Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Claremont Winds and received a standing ovation.

 

Throughout his undergraduate career, Peter has been an active participant in summer Saxophone institutes around the country such as the Eastman School of Music Summer Saxophone Institute 2011, the Shell Lake Arts Center Summer Saxophone Camp 2012 and the first Inaugural American Saxophone Academy 2013 at Eastman. He has also performed in masterclasses for world renowned saxophonists such as Timothy Mcallister, Chien-Kwan Lin, James Bunte, Eugene Rousseau, Leo Potts, Jeffrey Vickers, and Kenneth Tse.  Peter was the Soprano Saxophonist for the BCCM “University Saxophone Quartet” who were national finalists for the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Chamber Music competition 2013.

 

As an instructor, Peter has taught masterclasses in high schools around the Inland Empire such as Colony High School, Ramirez Intermediate School and Norco Intermediate School to name a few. He has also taught a masterclass at Stratus Music Academy with Stratus Duo and guest artists. Peter currently resides in Eastvale, California teaching private Saxophone, Clarinet and Piano lessons to students of all age ranges and levels.

 

As a freelancer, Peter performs in various groups around the Inland Empire and Los Angeles areas and has been featured in performances alongside YouTube singer/songwriter AJ Rafael. He currently performs alongside Andrew Vang in a Flute/Saxophone chamber group called Stratus Duo. Peter specializes in classical/contemporary, Jazz and Pop music. He has studied with renowned saxophone teachers such as Christopher Bartz, Douglas Masek, James Barrera, Matt Zebley and Jill-Geist Ruhnke.
